A'isha (may Allah be pleased with her), the wife of the Prophet ﷺ, said: "When someone in her family passed away, and women came to offer condolences, she would prepare talbina in a small pot. After cooking it, she would pour it over tharid (a dish made of meat and bread). Then she would say: 'Eat it, because I heard the Prophet ﷺ say: Talbina comforts a sad heart and reduces sorrow.'"
